Scamo! The 'Google Kit' Bulls**t scam is just another version of Google Treasure
Chest / Money Tree / Emillionaire / Blazing Keywords / Easy Google Profits / A1
Member - and several other names - but these are are all shady sharks swimming
in the same murky waters of the scam sea.
The method of scamming is usually the same:
Ads on Facebook, Yahoo, Adwords and other web sites offering 'work at home
jobs', leading to fake blogs (Kevin Hoeffer and friends) or fake newspaper
articles with claims like 'earn $5000 per month just posting links on Google'
leading to another site like securecartcenter.com or 6ftoverhead.com or
sweettracking.com with logos of CNN etc and the words "as seen and trusted on"
to make it look legit, ridiculous income claims like: "anyone with a computer
and basic typing skills can earn cash on Google. Make up to $200 - $943 per day
from home on Google. " in 3 easy steps - 1) Order software /kit /course 2) Use
basic typing skills to post links 3) Watch the money roll in! All of which is of
course a complete load of bovine excrement (bull poo)...
The landing page asks for your name, address, email address and phone number and
then takes you to a payment page which offers free 'software' or a 'kit' "only
pay £1.95 shipping" or some such, but of course the sting in the tale is that
tucked away in the terms and conditions (which is on another page which can only
be found via a link in tiny print at the bottom of the payment page) is a $72.21
charge (or similar) hefty monthly fee and often words to the effect that you are
signing up to one or two other services with a monthly charge (no option to opt
out and no mention of what these other services are apart from their names which
are things like grantsprings and id protection' whatever they are!
So...lots of people miss the small print hidden in the terms on a different page
and probably think 'what the heck - only $1.95'.. will take the risk.. but of
course they don't know about the 'sting' of the ongoing monthly charges, the
fact that the 'kit' or cd or 'software' or 'course' is worthless junk and that
they have just given their credit card details, phone number, name and address
to a bunch of scam artists! Oh dear - there may be trouble ahead.....
Indeed. When the bank statement or credit card bills lands on the doormat the
'hidden surprise' of the monthly charges (sometimes adding up to over $100 per
month) is revealed and here begins the tortous process of trying to cancel these
charges via some third party call center - being put on hold for eternity, being
given the run around, getting the phone put down on you, no supervisor ever
available - basically being stuck in call centre hell!
Then there is the joys of contacting your bank, cancelling your credit card, etc
etc.......
So in a word - STAY AWAY from these wham bam scam sites and avoid a world of
pain!
